ASG PROPERTY INSURANCE

ODAPM manages the property insurance program specifically for public institutions. This program, established under Executive Order No. 006-2014, involves the cooperative efforts of the ASG Property Insurance Committee (ASPIC), Department of Treasury, Office of Procurement, The American Samoa Telecommunications Authority, LBJ Tropical Medical Center and the American Samoa Community College. Its purpose is to solicit and maintain qualified, cost-effective property insurance for ASG's fixed assets, structures, and contents that are funded and required by FEMA. The aim is to protect critical government-owned facilities from natural disasters and other risks, thereby ensuring the uninterrupted delivery of services to the people of American Samoa.

Made possible through a Grant Award from the U.S. Department of the Interior-Office of Insular Affairs Technical Assistance Grant, ODAPM was able to contract services to update the schedule of values for all covered assets in 2022. This Building Survey allowed us to gather information on all assets including new construction, demolished buildings, building specifications, and coordinates. This information is critical to the recovery phase of disaster management to track impacts and damages. To ensure the accuracy and timeliness of asset information, this survey is now updated every six months.
